LOS ANGELES, Aug. 16, 2021 -- On Saturday, August 21, Homeboy Industries will team up with local clothing brand LOW END to present and sell #HOMEBOYSTREETWEAR at Union Station DTLA. This event will raise awareness and funds for Homeboy’s rehabilitation and reentry program for former gang members and incarcerated people.
The streetwear collection caters to people of
various incomes. With pieces ranging from
$10-$200, shoppers can contribute to the
fundraiser to the extent in which they are able
to.
Along with clothing available to purchase,
there will be interactive activities for all ages.
Attendees can bring a blank white T-shirt to get
screen-printed with Homeboy’s logo for $5
each. Additionally, attendees can learn
about Homeboy and the history of gangs and
incarceration in Los Angeles through their
virtual stations set up around the room. Local
bands live music food will be provided by local
restaurant Cielito Lindo.
All proceeds from the event will go directly towards Homeboy Industries’ programs and resources provided for former gang members and incarcerated people. “We anticipate that this event will contribute to community unification and education,” says Mercedes Martinez, a community activist on Homeboy’s board of directors. “With the help of local businesses and brands, we envision this event providing resources and opportunities to those without hope.”
The event will take place 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 800 N Alameda St, Los Angeles, CA 90012, Union Station, the central train station of Los Angeles. Entering from Union Station West, the event will be on the left of the ticket concourse. No entry fee required.
