Founder

In the years after becoming a pastor at Delores mission church in east LA, Father Greg initially started Homeboy Industries off as Job for a Future, later going on to start Homeboy Bakery.

Founded in the heart of Los Angeles by Father Greg Boyle, for the past 30 years Homeboy Industries has been inspired by the idea that nothing stops a bullet better than a job. Our purpose has been to rehabilitate and provide reentry into society for former gang members and previously incarcerated individuals wishing to get back on their feet.

We achieve this by offering jobs and experience, case management, tattoo removals, education, and therapy programs. These programs have since earned us the 2020 Humanitarian Prize by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation. Each year we have over 10,000 people come through our doors to receive guidance and each year we remove around 3,000 tattoos.

We provide jobs through the many social enterprises we have initiated over the years, Homeboy Bakery, Homeboy Electronics Recycling, Homegirl Catering, Homegirl Cafe, and many more. Today our work has become a global initiative with 250 locations worldwide.
